✦ About ISKCON Calendar ✦
The ISKCON calendar follows the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition (of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Srila Prabhupada). It is a form of the Vedic lunar calendar with special focus on Ekadashi reckoning and Vaishnava observances.
Gaudiya Ekadashis are determined by special rules involving "Maha-Dvadashi" and "Samparka" tithi — sometimes a day different from the common Hindu Ekadashi. ISKCON devotees follow these specific dates.
Janmashtami, Radhashtami, Gaura Purnima (Sri Chaitanya's birth), Nitai Pad-Kamal, Govardhana Puja — the main Vaishnava festivals are dated by this calendar. As directed by Srila Prabhupada, this panchang is used at ISKCON's 1000+ temples.
