Q1

What is Choghadiya?

AChoghadiya is a Vedic time division system that divides each day (sunrise to sunset) and night (sunset to next sunrise) into 8 equal parts called "Choghadiya". Each part is classified as Amrit, Shubh, Labh, Char, Rog, Kaal, or Udveg — indicating auspicious or inauspicious times for starting new activities.

Q2

What is Rahu Kaal?

ARahu Kaal is a daily inauspicious period of approximately 1.5 hours ruled by Rahu. It is calculated by dividing daytime into 8 equal parts. Each day of the week has a fixed slot. Starting new ventures during Rahu Kaal is considered inauspicious.

Q3

What is Panchang?

APanchang literally means "five limbs" — Tithi (lunar day), Nakshatra (moon constellation), Yoga (sun-moon combination), Karana (half of tithi), and Vaara (weekday). It is the Hindu calendar system used for determining auspicious times.

Q4

What is Lahiri Ayanamsa?

AAyanamsa is the angular difference between Tropical (Western) and Sidereal (Vedic) zodiac. Lahiri/Chitrapaksha Ayanamsa is the Indian government-approved standard, currently ~24.2° in 2026. Our calculations use Lahiri Ayanamsa.

Q5

How accurate are your calculations?

AWe use advanced astronomical algorithms (Meeus) with 38+ Moon perturbation terms and Lahiri Ayanamsa. Our Tithi/Nakshatra end times match Drikpanchang within 3 minutes, and planet positions within 0.5° — making us highly accurate for educational and practical use.

Q6

What is Abhijit Muhurat?

AAbhijit Muhurat is the most auspicious 48-minute period centered on solar noon. It is the 8th muhurat out of 15 daily muhurats. All doshas are nullified during this time. Exception: not valid on Wednesday and for south-direction travel.

Q7

What is the difference between Amanta and Purnimanta?

AAmanta (month ends on Amavasya) is used in South India, Maharashtra, Gujarat. Purnimanta (month ends on Purnima) is used in North India, Nepal. Same tithis, different month labeling.

Q8

Why does Panchang vary by location?

ASunrise/sunset times change by location, and Vedic Panchang calculates Tithi at local sunrise. So the Tithi at sunrise in Delhi may differ from Chennai. Rahu Kaal timings also vary because they depend on sunrise.

Q9

Can I use this for marriage muhurat?

AOur Panchang provides accurate Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga and planetary data which is the foundation for Muhurat selection. However, for important events like marriage, we strongly recommend consulting a qualified Jyotishi who can analyze both horoscopes.

Q10

Is this app fully offline?

AYes, all astronomical calculations (Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, planets, sunrise/sunset) are computed offline using mathematical formulas. No internet is needed for Panchang data. Only ads and comments require internet.
